Our Story

The Elevate Tech association was originally conceived in 2016 under the name "Zurich Women in Tech Industry and Academia" and was founded by Dr. Javiera Guedes when she found herself working in an overwhelmingly male-dominated industry. At the time, she was contacted by a woman who had been fired right after returning from maternity leave and realized that women face challenges that go far beyond gender statistics and quotas. The association started as a Meetup group that has attracted over 1,200 members over time.

Since then we have organized many meetings aimed at discussing gender issues in the workplace, learning about various technical topics, empowering women to lead, and providing a platform for women to find jobs in tech. This is our passion and our hobby, and we love dedicating part of our free time to this purpose.

Our mission is to provide a platform where women and minorities can learn from each other and help each rise up and grow. Out tech talks, workshops, mentorship program and individual consultations are design to foster a spirit of collaboration and growth within our community.
